With a recent Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Michigan, Dr. Ijames is in South Africa to engage in several key projects that promise to captivate and inspire audiences nationwide.
Dr. Ijames is participating in the COMFESA International Symposium in KZN and leading workshops in the Western Cape. However, his most ambitious endeavor is the revival of British Sierra-Leonean composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s “The Atonement,” a sacred cantata untouched for over a century. This project seeks not only to bring Coleridge-Taylor’s masterpiece to new audiences but also to champion diversity within the choral canon.
